Solutions for Hard-to-Fit Eyes

If you have ever been discouraged from wearing contacts, you’ll be happy to hear that we specialize in fitting hard-to-fit contact lenses.

Some eye conditions, such as astigmatism, dry eyes, giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC), keratoconus, or presbyopia, can make wearing standard contacts uncomfortable or even painful. To help ensure your vision correction solution works for your needs and lifestyle, we will work closely with you to determine the best solution for you.

Scleral lenses are designed to sit on the whites (the sclera) of the eyes. Because they vault over the cornea, they are a great choice for patients with corneal irregularities. They also create a fluid layer between the cornea and the lens itself, making them more comfortable for many patients with dry eyes.

Scleral lenses can be a great choice for patients with corneal irregularities, ocular surface disease, or severe refractive errors.

RGP contact lenses are an excellent option for those with hard-to-fit eyes, although they do have a longer adjustment period than their soft counterparts. Like scleral lenses, RGP lenses hold moisture under the lens, making them more comfortable for patients with dry eyes. RGP lenses are also great for those with keratoconus and GPC. RGP materials don’t hold onto lipids or proteins, which can help reduce GPC symptoms.

If you have hard to fit eyes and are curious about contact lenses, please book an appointment with us today.
